It is full of vibrant shopping areas, beautiful countryside and quiet residential areas. There is so much variety all based along The River Cray just waiting to be explored. | The River Cray
The Cray Valley consists of all the areas along The River Cray. The river begins with a small stream rising at Orpington's Priory Gardens. Its route takes it through the beautiful countryside of St Marys Cray and St Pauls Cray, then on to Foots Cray, winding through the open grassland of Foots Cray Meadows. The river flows on to North Cray and the ancient North Cray Wood, and then passes through the beautiful and historic Old Bexley. The river then flows through Crayford and Barnes Cray before joining the River Darent, then the Thames. The River Cray is known as one of the cleanest tributaries of the Thames and provides a lifeline for aquatic vegetation, unusual birds and fish as well as some specially protected species such as certain Water Voles and the Great Crested Newt.
