A lively town with a wide selection of shops, a large leisure centre, a beautiful park and some very interesting history.

Shopping in Orpington is great, shops are mainly on the high street and in the Walnuts Shopping Centre. A large Tesco was opened at the end of the high street in summer 2009. While you visit the new Tesco please take a trip down the high street to see what is on offer. Opington also has a leisure centre, beautiful park and much more.

Orpington Community

Orpington is well known for the picturesque Priory Gardens, with a library, church, play area and rose garden as well as the Priory itself - linked to King Cnut. Inside the Priory is the Bromley Museum. The Park is a beautiful oasis just minutes from the busy town centre. The sorce of the river Cray can be found here.

There are rugby, football and cricket pitches in Goddington Park - Orpington Cricket Club and Orpington Football Club are both based here. There are also running clubs, bowls clubs, tennis clubs and much more.

Orpington is popular with commuters because of its excellent transport links.

Priory
Crofton VillaOrpington's history is a long and interesting one. Stone Age tools have been exceavated in several areas of Orpington, including Goddington Park, Priory Gardens, the Ramsden estate, and Poverest. Early Bronze Age pottery fragments have been found in the Park Avenue area. Crofton Roman Villa was inhabited from about AD 140 to 400. The remains of ten of the rooms can be seen today.

In the evening Orpington has plenty to offer including lively pubs, bars and a great range of restaurants.
